A psychiatric examination (mental status evaluation) is required both when applying for an first permission for gun and when renewing it.
You may also need a psychiatric evaluation to apply for and renew your driver’s license.

Once you make an appointment here, we will send you a link to a self-assessment questionnaire to complete prior to your video appointment and a link to the video call. When you come to your video appointment, please have an identification document (ID card, passport, driver’s license) on hand, by which we can confirm your identity by presenting it on camera.
Our psychiatrist will assess your mental state during a video interview and based on your health data in Digilugu. A certificate confirming the completion of the assessment will be uploaded to Digilugu and will be available to you and your family doctor immediately after the assessment, who issues the health certificate required for the permission.
It is important to know that if you have a mental health problem that may cause a risk to your own life or the health or safety of others, such as severe mental disorder or substance use disorder (including alcohol), then permission for applying for a gun or driver’s license would be not possible.
